Need for Speed Most Wanted is actually the name of two not so different games, released by different studios and with a difference of seven years (2005 and 2012). We will be covering the game released by EA Black Box in 2005.

The beginning of a glorious street racing career

Travel to the Rockport City, a fantasy city where illegal street races are at a high peak. Players will take control of a driver who loses his car in a race and is arrested by the infamous Sergeant Cross, a police officer who is trying to eradicate illegal races.

Due to lack of evidence the main character is released from prison and is approached by Mia Townsend who tries to help him take revenge on the one who sabotaged his car: Clarence 'Razor' Callahan. A list with the top 15 illegal race drivers in town is presented and players will have to beat them one by one until they make the top of the list and get a chance to race against Razor.

Race in an open-city filled with cops

The gameplay of the game is split between three different parts: the races which take place in fixed locations, the free roaming where you can discover new events, shops or engage in police chases and the shop where you can customize your car, swap it or buy a new one. Note that some races will involve police chases that can change the outcome of a race in a second.

The Career mode is by far the most interesting one. Here you will be able to bring down the 15 toughest racers in town by starting with a simple stock car. After each successful race, you will be able to choose from six different markers among which hides a pink slip (you will win the opponent's car).

There are different types of races players will get to experience: circuit races, sprint, lap knockout and drag races are borrowed from NFS Underground, yet two new types of races make their first appearance in Most Wanted: Tollbooth and Speedtrap.

Famous actors and great looks

The game features great visuals (especially for the year 2005) and a great thing is that the cinematic scenes are played by real actors: Josie Maran, Dean McKenzie and Derek Hamilton among others.

There are lots of different cars players will get to choose from starting with stock cars like Audi TT or Mazda RX-8. Exotic cars like several Lamborghini model or muscle cars like the Chevrolet Camaro are available after completing a certain percentage of the game.

One of the best Need for Speed titles ever to be released

Besides its great looks, the game also features a famous soundtrack where artists like Juvenile, Jamiroquai or The Prodigy will entertain and keep the players in the racing mood. Even if other Need for Speed titles have emerged, the classic Most Wanted is still a favorite among the racing fans.
